After releasing to the public that he would be releasing a new album titled Forest Hills Drive on December 9, 2014, J. Cole decided to do something special for his fans. Cole invited them to his North Carolina home, to listen to his album about a month before its’ official release. You may be wondering why he would do such a thing, but Cole’s action were all apart of his master plan. In an interview with The Fader, Cole talked about how stereotypes can affect people who have never met. He goes into detail saying “My patterns and stereotypes about each type of person are a little more informed. It’s not accurate,” he said in the six-minute clip. “There are people who have never had interactions with 19 year old Puerto Rican people, or young black people, or gays. Most information about these people comes from television- stereotypes that already exist in the media.” It seems like Mr. Cole spent his time away from the public creating not simply an album, but a masterpiece.
